Extramus Alumni

An internal platform connecting Extramus’s international interns, past, present and future, shipped during my internship in Italy.

Context

Extramus hosts international Erasmus+ interns in Italy. There was no place to connect people currently on placement with alumni and future applicants.

What I did

  • A framework-free PHP 8 application: hand-written router, controllers, models and views, a PSR-4 autoloader and MySQL, so it runs on any shared hosting.
  • Secure accounts: sign-up, verification of an @extramus.eu address, and password reset that never reveals whether an account exists.
  • Alumni projects with a gallery and a Markdown editor, an FAQ, messaging and a bilingual French/English interface.
  • Every feature went through a specification and then a plan, carried out with AI agents that I supervised, and whose choices I reviewed and challenged.

The result

After three months of development, from specification to production, the platform is live at alumni.extramusportal.it. It is now in Extramus’s hands, and they run it.

What I took away

Working with AI agents is fast, as long as you set the frame first and review afterwards. I make the calls, they speed things up.
